In a unique move to compliment the unprecedented effort of Mr. Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State in Youth Empowerment, the Dunukofia Local Government Council under the working administration of Hon. Chijioke C. Ozumba Esq. has initiated and embarked on a programme tagged “Dunukofia Local Government Council’s Youth Empowerment Scheme”, an ongoing continuous programme which has so far been rated as the most real, uncommon and impactful Youth Empowerment programme in Dunukofia LGA and beyond.
The objective of this all important programme is to identify and set up our youths who have, over the years, undergone trainings and learned various handiworks but, unfortunately, they have been unable to kick start these handiworks due to lack of equipment or fund to purchase the needed equipments, especially those of them without any help from anyone in their favour, till date. These youths, as a result, couldn’t but end up loitering about the streets of Dunukofia Local Government, aimlessly, due to their jobless situation.
Each of these favoured Dunukofia youths, upon identifying them, are being set up with a shop, fully equipped with the original brand of tools required to kick start and establish their various handiworks. Just last week, precisely on Monday, 7th of April, 2025, the Mayor commissioned twelve (12) shops across the Local Government Area to mark his six (6) months in office. He used the occasion to also reveal the plans of his administration to continue the Empowerment programme in batches with 100 jobless Dunukofia youths as the beneficiaries, before the year, 2025 runs out.
He did not stop at that, in order to guide the beneficiaries, safeguard the equipment as well as ensure that they make remarkable progress in their various chosen fields, each of the beneficiaries swore to a court affidavit not to sale, nor in anyway dispose any of the provided equipment, nor the shop found locked with no acceptable reason. It’s not an all-commers programme instead, it is strictly for the youths who are committed and dedicated in self development, youths who want to create value and make necessary impacts in the society. Indeed, it is unprecedented!
In addition to ensure their steady progress and unflinching commitment to the job, the Local Government Council Mayor opted for an undisclosed method for the monitoring of those shops, the equipment and the punctuality of the beneficiaries to work. This approach will encourage their individual consistency to work, contribute to their performance and success.
Bar. Ozumba also disclosed that the target of this laudable project is to ensure that over one hundred (100) male and female youths of Dunukofia extraction benefit out of this programme, which was designed to be done in batches before the end of the year, 2025. One of the good sides of this initiative is that it cuts across every ward and community in Dunukofia LGA, including the non indigene residents and people living with disabilities. The first batch of 12 beneficiaries empowered last week is a testament to the fact that this Empowerment programme has no room for segregation nor sentiment, neither is it used for political settlements.
The Dunukofia Local Government Council Boss ensures that the beneficiaries are people that really and truly needed the Empowerment. There are series of rigorous screenings, investigations and inquiries to ascertain a true beneficiary out of the crowded list of interested candidates.
The equipped shops commissioned so far include; Tailoring shops, Alumaco workshops, Furniture workshops, Hair Dressing Salons, Barbing Salons, Baking/Confectionery shops, Shoe making workshops among others, with all the serenity required.
The ebulient Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Council, Hon. Anthony Nweze Nwora performed the commissioning of most of the shops.
The Beneficiaries of the First Batch include;
1) Miss Chikodili Ofojee Juliet, of Umuchigbo village, Ward II, Umudioka (Baking).
2) Mr. Chinedu Cornelius Aronu, of Nkwelle village, Ward II, Umunnachi (Barbing Salon).
3) Mr. Nnacho Ifeanyi Stanley, of Akwa, in Ifitedunu (Alumaco).

11) Mr. Chinweike Nweke, of Akpu village, Ward III, Ukpo (Leather Work).
12) Mr. Somtochukwu Okeke, non-indigene (Furniture)
While Governor Soludo raises a thousand (1000) Anambra millionaires annually through One Youth Two Skills Programme, Dunukofia Mayor, Bar. Ozumba moves to compliment Mr. Governor’s efforts in poverty eradication by establishing over one hundred (100) Dunukofia youths in various handiworks this 2025.
Thank you, Ifezulumba Dunukofia! Our earnest prayer is that the beneficiaries shall excel in their chosen fields, and make themselves, their families and entire Dunukofia proud.
Indeed, Ifezulumba bialu olu!
