Activist Harrison Gwamnishu Resigns as Delta Governor’s SSA on Civil Society and Youth Mobilization Over Rising Insecurity

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has officially resigned from his position as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Civil Society and Youth Mobilization to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.

In a resignation letter dated April 25, 2025, Gwamnishu cited growing insecurity across Delta communities and the government’s failure to address the issue as his reasons for stepping down.

He expressed disappointment that despite submitting multiple messages, calls, and blueprint documents offering solutions to tackle insecurity, the administration had continually ignored them.

According to him, the persistent inaction has made it impossible for him to perform his duties with the integrity and effectiveness he believes the role demands.

Gwamnishu emphasized that he accepted the appointment with a commitment to protect and serve the community but could no longer be part of an administration that neglects the safety and welfare of its people.

While announcing his resignation, he reaffirmed his dedication to advocating for the rights and security of Delta State residents and vowed to continue his activism independently.

He concluded by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve and wished the government success in its future endeavors.
