President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, the nation’s
capital, following his trip to Rome, Italy, where he attended the inauguration
of Pope Leo XIV.
Tinubu arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,
Abuja at 6:50pm on Tuesday.
He was welcomed at the presidential wing of the airport by
senior members of his administration, including George Akume, secretary to the
government of the federation (SSG), and Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal
capital territory (FCT).
The president departed Abuja for Rome on Saturday following
his invitation to the inauguration ceremony of the new Pope.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony, Tinubu called on
Nigerians to harness their diversity for the country’s stability and rapid
development.
The president also called on leaders at all levels to work
for the betterment of the citizens.
Tinubu said it was historic to be the president of Nigeria
when a new pope was inaugurated in Rome.
