The Managing Director of Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Engineer Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, has warned dealers of adulterated farm inputs to desist from their activities or face the wrath of the law.
According to him, “adulterated farm inputs pose a high health risk, including cancer, to innocent Nigerians.”
Making this known while briefing the press in Kano, Engr Bichi said, “The move was part of the authority’s commitment to transformative river basin development and food security initiatives.”
He also emphasised the authority would not take it lightly with those found adulterating farm inputs this season.
Bichi called on the general public to be vigilant and report anyone found selling adulterated farm inputs to relevant authorities such as NAFDAC, SON, and HJRBDA.
He therefore stated that the
HJRBDA has embarked on a bold journey to enhance the socio-economic development of its river basin by introducing innovative irrigation techniques and optimising existing systems.
“HJRBDA has established specialized committees to formulate a strategic action plan and coordinate efforts to strengthen food security, promote sustainable development, and improve livelihoods within the river basin.”
He expressed excitement about the opportunities ahead and looked forward to collaborating with stakeholders to realize HJRBDA’s goals.
