NUC re-accredits 25 KWASU undergraduate courses


The National Universities Commission (NUC) has re-accredited all 25 undergraduate programmes of Kwara State University (KWASU), which were presented during the October/November 2024 round of academic programme accreditation.

In a statement by the Acting Director of University Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, the results of the accreditation process—addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and dated 30 April 2025—were signed by the NUC’s Acting Director of Accreditation, Engineer Abraham Chundusu.

Of the 25 programmes, 21 received full accreditation, while four were granted interim accreditation.

The programmes with full accreditation include Taxation, Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Physics, and Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution.

Others are Special Education, French Education, Education Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies Education, Arabic Education, and Computer Science Education.

Business Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Management, Agricultural Education, Biology Education, Physics Education, and Chemistry Education complete the list of programmes with full accreditation.

Meanwhile, French, Mathematics Education, English Education, and Yoruba Education received interim accreditation.

Programmes with full accreditation have a validity period of five years, while those with interim accreditation are valid for two years, after which they will be reassessed by the NUC.

Reacting to the results, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, commended the university’s staff for successfully presenting their respective programmes for re-accreditation.

Professor Jimoh stated that the management of KWASU would continue to support academic, research, and community development activities, urging greater commitment from all stakeholders to elevate the university to even greater heights.
