Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, on Friday, April 18, paid a visit to Quadri Alabi—the young boy who gained widespread attention during the polls after a viral photo showed him standing boldly in front of Obi’s convoy.
In January this year, the 17-year-old was accused of robbery and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court in Apapa.
The police obtained an order remanding him at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirkiri.
His case made it to social media last week, and there was a public outcry for his release. Following the intervention of human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, he was released on April 17.
According to Effiong, Obi offered to assist Quadri in acquiring the necessary training and education he desires.
