Montgomery, AL – Grammy-nominated R&B and neo-soul singer Angie Stone has tragically passed away following a car accident. She was 63 years old.

The accident occurred early Saturday morning as Stone and members of her band were traveling from a performance in Alabama to Atlanta. According to reports, their vehicle lost control, flipped over, and was struck by an oncoming truck. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Stone was pronounced dead. Several other passengers sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Angie Stone rose to fame in the late 1970s as a member of The Sequence, one of the first female hip-hop groups. She later became a prominent figure in the neo-soul movement with hit albums like Black Diamond (1999) and Mahogany Soul (2001), which featured the widely acclaimed song “Wish I Didn’t Miss You.”

Over the years, Stone collaborated with major artists including D’Angelo, Alicia Keys, and Snoop Dogg. She received multiple Grammy nominations and was honored with numerous awards celebrating her contributions to R&B and soul music.
